The City of Quinte West launches new website

The City of Quinte West has launched its new website at quintewest.ca, providing an online presence that is more accessible, mobile-friendly and easier to navigate for users looking for information and City services.

The new design is based on feedback from users and staff, and recommendations from the website developer. Staff collected user data from the previous website to make informed decisions on changes and improvements to the navigation and digital services.

The new website is designed to meet the needs of people currently using the City’s digital services and with a view to expanding online offerings in the future. It is simple and intuitive so that people can find what they need on the first try. It is intended to be accessible to everyone regardless of their ability level and environment.

“Municipal websites host a wide range of subject matter, so we looked at how people use our site and what information matters most to them,” says Hannah Brown, Quinte West’s community engagement officer. “Based on the data we gathered, we simplified the navigation to help everyone find exactly what they’re looking for. We tried to use plain language and avoid government jargon wherever possible.”

The new website launch is the first step toward building more accessible digital offerings for Quinte West. In the coming months, residents can expect to see additional platforms and features that will create a cohesive online presence for Quinte West.

“We think this new site has navigation and features that allow us to be leaders when it comes to best practices for municipal websites,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “As a part of our strategic plan, we set a goal of providing the public with transparent and open government and encouraging community engagement. This website will be a big part of achieving this goal.”
