Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Generally, no. Many homeowners insurance policies will pay to repair the damage created by failed utility lines, but they usually do not cover the cost to repair the line itself. Property owners are encouraged to review their existing insurance coverage to avoid duplication in the insurance offered by their homeowners insurance and SLWC.

Service Line Warranties covers the portion of the outside water and waste lines that are the responsibility of the homeowner, as well as in-home plumbing issues, including broken, leaking or clogged water and sewer lines inside the home.

Plans from SLWC can help protect homeowners from expensive water service line, sewer/septic line, gas, electrical, plumbing and drainage repairs caused by normal wear and tear. When you discover a leaky or clogged line, call SLWC’s 24/7 repair hotline for reliable support service – anytime day or night. A pre-screened contractor will be sent to assess and repair the damage, and will then send the bill directly to SLWC. You receive no bills and you pay $0 for covered repairs, up to your benefit amount.

Enrollment in an SLWC plan is optional and voluntary for homeowners in Quinte West. This is not a City of Quinte West program; SLWC is solely responsible for the administration of the program. The City of Quinte West in no way warrants or is liable for the work or performance of SLWC.
