Closed meeting investigator complaint process

The City of Quinte West has appointed Local Authority Services Limited (LAS) as the Closed Meeting Investigator. It has authorized them to conduct investigations for any requests received in relation to closed meetings according to Section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001 as amended.  Information regarding the Closed Meeting Investigator process is available from the City clerk’s office, the second floor of city hall, or you can email clerk@quintewest.ca

Members of the public, including corporations, may submit complaints to the Closed Meeting Investigator relating to compliance with Section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended,  for meetings or part of meetings that are closed to the public. According to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, all complaints will be handled confidentially. Information will be collected, used and disclosed under the act. 

Integrity commissioner 

The City of Quinte West has appointed Mr. Tony Fleming, Cunningham, Swan, Carty, Little & Bonham LLP as the City’s Integrity Commissioner. It has authorized him to conduct investigations upon a complaint about rules governing members of council’s ethical behaviour pertaining to the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act and the code of conduct for members of council and local boards.  The Integrity Commissioner’s additional duties and responsibilities are outlined in Section 223 of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended.  Information regarding the Integrity Commissioner process is available from the City clerk’s office, the second floor of city hall, or you can email clerk@quintewest.ca

Individuals may submit complaints to the Integrity Commissioner relating to compliance with the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act and the Code of Conduct for Members of Council and Local Boards.  According to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, all complaints will be handled confidentially. The Integrity Commissioner also serves to advise Members of Council and Local Boards regarding their obligations under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act and Code of Conduct for Members of Council and Local Boards.
