Yard waste disposal

Learn about our annual yard waste curbside collection and year-round drop-off locations.

Quinte West residents have three options for leaf and yard waste disposal:

  • Bag leaves for the City of Quinte West’s spring and fall leaf and yard waste curbside collection.
  • Drop off leaf and yard waste to a year-round drop-off location. 
  • Mulch leaves with a lawnmower and let them remain on your property. 

Leaf and yard waste collection schedule

Curbside leaf and yard waste collection happens in the spring and the fall.

Fall 2024 collection schedule

  • Monday, Oct. 28 – Trenton ward
  • Monday, Nov. 4 – Frankford, Sidney and Murray* wards
  • Monday, Nov. 11 – Trenton ward

*Residents in Murray Ward east of 2nd Dug Hill Road with a Thursday garbage collection date will have their leaf and yard waste collected with Trenton ward collection on Oct. 28 and Nov. 11. 

Leaf and yard waste must be in a paper yard waste bag and curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection date. Brush and branches are not accepted.

Year-round yard waste drop off

Year-round yard waste can be dropped off at the Frankford landfill site at 1850 Fish and Game Club Rd., Frankford. There is no fee, and your waste does not need to be bagged. Acceptable yard waste includes grass clippings, small branches, leaves and larger brush and branches that are not accepted by curbside collection.

Christmas tree drop-off is accepted. Please ensure they are completely free of decorations and ornaments. Artificial trees are not accepted.

Drop off times

Monday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the winter season, the Frankford Landfill may be closed due to inclement weather and subsequent winter maintenance operations of City roadways and sidewalks. Please call Public Works at 613-392-2841 ext. 4912 or refer to this page to confirm operating hours during a weather event.

Curbside Christmas tree collection

Curbside Christmas tree collection is scheduled for:

  • Monday, Jan. 6, 2025
  • Monday, Jan. 13, 2025

Place your real tree, free of lights, ornaments and decorations, at the curb by 7 a.m.

You can also drop off your real tree at the Frankford yard waste depot during operating hours.

The Frankford landfill will be CLOSED:

  • Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022
  • Monday, Dec. 26, 2022
  • Monday, Jan. 2, 2023
The Frankford landfill will be OPEN:
  • Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022
  • Saturday, Dec 31, 2022
