Quinte West raises Ukrainian flag

The Ukrainian flag was raised at city hall this afternoon in a gesture of solidarity with Ukraine.

“Today’s raising of the Ukrainian flag symbolizes our support of Ukraine, its citizens and our local Ukrainian community,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “Our thoughts are with those affected by this conflict, and we hope for a peaceful resolution.”

“I’m pleased to see people gathering in Quinte West and around the world to promote peace,” said Todd Smith, MPP for Bay of Quinte. “We stand with the Ukrainian people in the face of this devastating invasion and we hope for an expedient resolution that preserves life and liberty. Our government is providing humanitarian aid and we will continue to closely monitor this situation.”

“At 1.3 million people, Canada has the largest Ukrainian population outside of Ukraine and Russia,” said Ryan Williams, MP for Bay of Quinte. “Our hearts are with Ukraine, Ukrainian Canadians, and all Canadians who are suffering through this unjustified war. We are working with the government of Canada to ensure we do everything necessary to oppose this war and help Ukraine.”
