Beginning May 2, 2022, nominations will open for candidates in the 2022 Quinte West Municipal Election. Qualified individuals can run for the offices of Mayor, City Councillor or School Board Trustee. Potential candidates for all offices must pick up information packages in-person at Quinte West City Hall, starting on May 2, and nominations must be filed by 2 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2022.

Getting elected to municipal office is an opportunity to serve the residents of Quinte West in many ways. Council helps develop and evaluate policies and programs, determine what services the municipality will provide, ensure accountability and transparency in all City operations, maintain the municipality’s financial integrity and viability, and foster activities that enhance the city and its residents.

Quinte West provides fire/rescue services, recreation, road maintenance, winter control and much more. Decisions made by Council directly impact the everyday lives of people in the city. The Mayor and Councillors are responsible for representing the community’s interests and the well-being of residents.

“Running for and serving on Council is your opportunity to affect change at a local level,” says Interim City Clerk, Virginia LaTour. “Members of Council help shape the future of the city. I encourage anyone interested in running to read more about the process on our website.”
