Quinte West Public Library celebrates renovations with a grand re-opening ceremony

Quinte West Public Library celebrated the recent renovations to its Trenton branch during a grand re-opening ceremony this afternoon.

Upgrades to Quinte West Public Library’s Trenton branch include the installation of new height-adjustable service desks, fresh paint, carpet, lounge furniture, bistro tables and chairs. Two new office pods were added to offer dedicated space for taking tests or exams, making private phone calls, and conducting small meetings.

A new 3D scanner and sewing machines were added to the library’s MakerSpace, complementing the existing 3D printer, laser cutter, t-shirt press, and Cricut vinyl cutter already in place.

The Play, Learn, Explore Children’s Area received new child-friendly furniture and exciting new learning-through-play features including a light box table, a Duplo Lego table, and interactive magnetic wall panels. Renovations to the Children’s Area were made possible by a generous donation of $75,000 from the Parrott Foundation.

“The Quinte West Public Library is a community hub that fosters literacy, creativity and connection,” says Doug Couture, Chair of the Quinte West Public Library Board. “These new additions and improvements will help make learning and recreation opportunities accessible to all while meeting the evolving needs of our community.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome the residents and visitors to our updated, reimagined space,” says Jeri-Lynn Thomas, CEO of the Quinte West Public Library. “We look forward to using these new upgrades to continue offering a wide range of programs, services, and events that our community relies on.”

The library officially reopened its Trenton branch at the end of June following the month-long renovation period.
