The City of Quinte West invites residents and visitors to take a seat on the new oversize Muskoka chair recently installed in Centennial Park.
The oversize Muskoka chair, at an impressive 2 metres (seven feet) tall and 1.7 metres (5.5 feet) wide, cannot be missed at the Quinte West Pop-ups along the Waterfront Trail in Centennial Park. Now in place, the chair will welcome visitors from approximately May to October. Stop by the chair to take a seat or a selfie, and enjoy the scenic views and the retail and delicious food offerings of the nearby Pop-ups vendors. The Quinte West Pop-ups are open Thursday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., through Sept. 2.
Installing the chair was proposed at the City’s Economic Development, Tourism, and Special Events Advisory Committee earlier this year as a way to create a novelty tourism experience that attracts visitors and highlights the charm and appeal of Quinte West. The City’s Economic Development, Tourism, and Special Events Advisory Committee supports the delivery of the City’s Tourism Strategy by advising on initiatives that enhance tourism and enrich visitor experiences in Quinte West.
“We are excited to bring this new initiative to Quinte West,” says Jennifer Rushlow, Tourism Development Officer. “The hope is that the oversize chair is a destination for both locals and visitors to gather, relax, take photos, and create lasting memories.”
