Quinte West Council agenda highlights for August 14, 2024

The meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in person at Quinte West City Hall and virtually at quintewest.site/LiveCouncil.

Public Meeting 

  • The Council for the City of Quinte West will hold a public meeting concerning surplus land, at 149 North Murray St, Trenton Ward, particularly as Part of Lot 1, Concession 1, Part 1, Plan 21R-14184 Township of Sidney, formerly in the City of Trenton, now in the City of Quinte West, County of Hastings being PIN 40415-0131.

  • The Council for the City of Quinte West will hold a public meeting concerning Development Charges (D.C.) to present the background study and draft D.C. By-law to the public and to solicit public input on the matter. The public meeting is also being held to answer any questions regarding the study’s purpose, methodology and the proposed D.C. By-law for the City. 

Presentations and delegations

  • Lisa Kuypers-Schroedter, President, Kiwanis Club of Trenton, along with Mayor Harrison and Council will present Kiwanis Mel Osmond Diamond Pin Awards to Jim Parker, Owen Kinmond and Remco Degroyer for their years of devoted service to the Kiwanis Walleye World Live Release Fishing Derby. 
  • Caleb DenOuden, Director of Finance and Chris Angelo, Director of Public Works and Environmental Services, City of Quinte West will present Water/Wastewater Rate Study. 

Committee reports, staff reports and approval of accounts

  • Council will review a staff report regarding Water and Wastewater Rate Analysis. 
  • Council will review a staff report regarding 2025 Fees and Charges Review. 
  • Council will review a staff report regarding Housing Accelerator Fund 2. 

Proclamations

  • Council will review a request from Canadian Mental Health Association Hasting Prince Edward Addicitions and Mental Health, to proclaim August 31, 2024 as “International Overdose Awareness Day”. 
  • Council will review a request from Quinte Health Children’s Treatment Centre, to proclaim September 2024 as “Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder” (FASD) Awareness Month and further to proclaim September 9, 2024 as FASD Awareness Day. 
  • Council will review a request from Brandy Brown, Vice-Chair, Quinte West Equity, Diversit and Inclusion Advisory Committee, to proclaim September 21, 2024 as “International Day of Peace”. 

Notice(s) of Motion

  • Councillor Shelley Stedall submitted a notice of motion seeking Council’s support requesting supplementary federal funding for municipalities under the 2024-8 agreement for the Association Municipalities of Ontario, Canadian Community-Building Funds.
