Tourism Development Fund

The Tourism Development Fund Grant program offers up to $10,000 to any individual, organization, group, event, or business supporting tourism based initiatives and programming that lead to increased visitation.

The main objectives of the grant are to:

● Support new and current tourism events and initiatives that increase visitation,
overnight stays, and tourist spending.
● Encourage collaboration between local businesses and tourism operators.
● Ensure the tourism sector remains innovative within the community.

The maximum amount available to any one organization in any year is $10,000, which includes any fee waivers, property tax rebates, tourism development funds or in-kind contributions from the City.

Applications will be made available annually starting Dec.1 until Feb. 28. Applications can be submitted in person, by mail or electronically via our website.

Application forms will be made available in printed format at City Hall, the Frankford Municipal Office, and at both public library locations.

For more information on the community fund grant, read the full policy or email [email protected].

Applications for the 2026 Tourism Development Fund will be available from Dec. 1 to Feb. 28, 2026.

FUNDING CRITERIA

The Tourism Development Fund’s primary purpose is to provide funds for one-time and project-related expenses.

Projects will be evaluated based on their alignment with municipal goals, community impact, feasibility and sustainability.

FUNDING ELIGIBILITY

Project applications must include a detailed description of the project, budget and expected outcomes. The application should support one or more of the main objectives of the fund.

The completed application must be submitted by Feb. 28, at 11:59 p.m.  Any application received after this time will be rejected and not considered. If you’re applying for project funding, you’re required to submit a final report to be eligible for any future grants.

Granting financial assistance in any one year is not regarded as a commitment by the City of Quinte West to continue such financial aid in future years.

The Council is not obligated to allocate funds to any individual, organization, group or event, even though they satisfy the eligibility criteria and meet all of the grant’s objectives.

FUNDING PROCEDURES

Community groups, individuals and organizations requesting grant funding from the City of Quinte West must complete an application. Applications will be reviewed by staff and recommendations provided to the Economic Development, Tourism and Special Events Committee in a staff report in March.

The annual municipal budget allocation for community fund grants is an estimate and does not require Council to fund up to a specific amount, nor does it limit the Council in assisting as it deems advisable.

FUNDING CONDITIONS

Successful grant applicants must abide by the following funding conditions:

  • Recognition of the City’s grant must be given on promotional materials or at the event.
  • The City’s logo must be placed on all promotional materials.
  • Any unspent funds at the end of the project must be returned to the City of Quinte West.
  • Within one year of the City’s receipt of funds, a final report must be submitted, indicating how the grant was spent and whether any unspent funds remain. Final reports can be submitted to [email protected].

Failure to submit the report and or meet any of the grant conditions outlined above will result in the individual or organization being ineligible to apply for funding in future years. Any approved funds may be withheld until such time as the above conditions are met.
