Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

The City’s new recycling contractor, Environmental 360 Solutions (E360S), has created a new recycling schedule. To make it more convenient for Quinte West residents, the City has aligned garbage and organics collection to follow the same schedule as recycling pick-up. This means all your curbside waste will be collected on the same day of the week.

There are currently more than 240 municipal recycling programs across Ontario. In August of 2019, the Government of Ontario announced a plan to transition the responsibility of recycling from municipalities to producers.

This new recycling program will aim to:

  • Make recycling easier by creating a standard list of materials that can be recycled across the province (beginning in 2026)
  • Expand the blue box service, such as to parks and public spaces across Ontario
  • Create new and alternative collection methods to divert materials that can’t be recycled or that might contaminate collected materials

EPR is a framework in which producers – the businesses that supply paper and packaging to residents – are responsible for managing the end-of-life management of these materials. EPR enables innovation, operational efficiencies, increased standard levels, and access to materials. Learn more at circularmaterials.ca.

There are currently no changes to the items you can/can’t recycle. The Government of Ontario plans to introduce a province-wide list of materials that can be recycled in 2026.
