The City of Quinte West and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 799.3, the union representing more than 145 inside and outside workers, have been engaged in collective bargaining since the current contract expired on March 31, 2026, and continue to work toward a negotiated agreement.
As part of the normal collective bargaining process, both parties have agreed to participate in conciliation with a provincially appointed conciliator later this week. Conciliation is a standard step in the bargaining process and is intended to support continued conversations and progress in negotiations.
The City remains committed to negotiating in good faith and reaching a fair and reasonable agreement that recognizes the important contributions of City employees, while remaining fiscally responsible to taxpayers.
Specific details of the negotiations are not being shared at this time in order to support a productive bargaining process.
City services continue to operate as usual and no changes are anticipated at this time.
Further updates on the collective bargaining process will be shared on the City’s website quintewest.ca, and official channels as appropriate.
