On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the United States imposed 25% tariffs on all imports from Canada, with the exception of Canadian energy, which will face a 10% tariff. The implementation of these tariffs significantly impact Canada’s economy by raising costs and disrupting supply chains essential to businesses in both countries. In response, Canada has implemented 25% retaliatory tariffs on American goods with an additional 25% tariff on foreign steel and aluminum scheduled to be imposed on March 12.
