Quinte West 2025 Budget Book review addresses important issues starting Dec. 4

The City of Quinte West will begin deliberations on the proposed 2025 Budget outlined in the City’s 2025 Budget Book.

The 2025 Budget Book is made available in draft to allow Council and the public the greatest amount of time possible to review next year’s proposed budget.

Subject to Council approval, the 2025 Budget proposes an average residential tax increase of 9.25%. The City faces a variety of financial pressures as it continues to navigate growth and works to protect its long-term financial health. The proposed tax levy would increase municipal taxes by $343 for the average Quinte West residential homeowner in 2025.

The proposed 9.25% tax increase provides additional revenue needed to address the City’s infrastructure deficit, the growing demand for City funding from external agencies and community groups, and municipal operating needs. Of the 9.25% proposed tax increase, 4% is the Capital Levy needed to help address costs associated with replacing the City’s aging infrastructure.

Quinte West’s proposed 2025 Budget was developed with input from residents and community members, Council and all City departments. The budget’s virtual community engagement process welcomed questions, ideas, and survey responses on Get Involved Quinte West that have helped inform the proposed budget.

Quinte West Council will review the proposed 2025 Budget during a two-day Special Council meeting Dec. 4-5. Council will review the City’s proposed 2025 departmental budgets at the meeting on Dec. 4, and all requests for funding from external agencies and community groups on Dec. 5.

Quinte West residents are welcome to provide comments or address Council as part of the budget review process. Public input can be submitted in writing to [email protected] for distribution as correspondence to Council.

Individuals wishing to address Council in-person or virtually at an upcoming Council meeting can attend any of the budget review meetings to speak during the public input period. More information about the City’s Speaking at Council process is available at quintewest.ca/council.
