Public Notice of Special Council Meeting
OFFICIAL PLAN UPDATE
Please be advised that the City of Quinte West will hold a special Council meeting, pursuant to Section 26(3) of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990, as amended, for the purposes of discussing the proposed update to the City’s Official Plan. The Special Council Meeting will be held as follows:
Monday, February 13, 2023
6:00 p.m.
Quinte West Municipal Office Council Chambers
7 Creswell Drive, Trenton, Ontario
THE PURPOSE OF THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING is to discuss the proposed update to the Official Plan and give an opportunity for the public to provide input before Council.
The Quinte West Official Plan outlines the City’s goals, objectives, and policies primarily used to support growth, economic development, and building. The plan also establishes a framework for managing the effects of growth on the social, economic and natural environment of the municipality. The existing Official Plan was approved by the province in 2013.
The proposed updated Official Plan applies to all lands within the City of Quinte West. The Official Plan will direct growth in the City, ensure consistency with provincial policy, regulations, and have regard for matters of provincial interest.
A copy of the City of Quinte West Draft Official Plan is available on the City’s website at www.quintewest.ca.
Alternatively, members of the public who wish to speak at the special Council meeting via Zoom or by telephone can register by emailing planning@quintewest.ca or by calling 613-392-2841, extension 4907, by February 1, 2023. Registration will not be accepted after this date. Once you have notified the Planning Department, you will be provided a link that is personal to you to be able to participate in the meeting virtually. Approval of the draft Official Plan by Council will conclude the City’s Official Plan review and update exercise.

Appeals:
If you wish to be notified of the decision of Council for the City of Quinte West on the proposed Official Plan, you must make a written request to City of Quinte West, Planning & Development Services, and 7 Creswell Drive, Trenton, ON K8V 5R6. If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council for the City of Quinte West to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Quinte West, Planning & Development Services before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Quinte West before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are
reasonable grounds to do so.
