NOTICE – Official Plan review public open houses

Please take notice that the City of Quinte West has prepared a draft Official Plan update and will hold public open houses to consider the Plan pursuant to Sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P13 as follows:

Natural environment policies:
Date: Thursday, May 5, 2022
Time: 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. presentation)
Location: Batawa Community Centre, 81 Plant St., Batawa, ON

Urban growth and settlement policies:
Date: Thursday, May 12, 2022
Time: 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. presentation)
Location: Batawa Community Centre, 81 Plant St., Batawa, ON

Rural, agriculture, and all other policies:
Date: Thursday, May 26, 2022
Time: 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. presentation)
Location: Batawa Community Centre, 81 Plant St., Batawa, ON

The purpose of the open houses is to provide the public with an opportunity to review and ask questions about the draft Official Plan policies and schedules. Each open house will include a presentation by City Planning staff and follow with time for public questions and input.

An Official Plan is a policy document that guides development and growth in a municipality over a 25 year timeframe. The City’s Official Plan is required to be consistent with the 2020 Provincial Planning Statement (PPS) and is subject to approval by the City Council and the Province of Ontario.

A copy of the Draft Official Plan will be available for review on the City’s website at: quintewest.ca/officialplanreview, or a copy can be viewed through the City’s Planning and Development department.

Email submissions may be sent to planning@quintewest.ca or submitted online at getinvolved.quintewest.ca beginning early May. If you wish to be notified of the decision of council for the City of Quinte West on the proposed Official Plan, you must make a written request to the City of Quinte West, Planning & Development Services, 7 Creswell Dr., Trenton, ON K8V 5R6.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council for the City of Quinte West to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at the legislated public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Quinte West, Planning & Development Services before the Official Plan is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at the legislated public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Quinte West before the Official Plan is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
