Groundbreaking ceremony celebrates new all-inclusive playground in Quinte West

Mayor and members of Quinte West Council joined members of the Lions Club of Trenton and community partners this afternoon for the groundbreaking of the club’s new all-inclusive playground.

The playground will be built on city-owned land east of Trenton Seniors Club 105 on Bay Street in Centennial Park and will feature accessible equipment for all ages and abilities. The first of two construction phases will begin this month with an estimated completion date of August 2022.

“The primary objective of the all-inclusive playground equipment is to allow our youth and seniors to feel independent and foster better health,” said Lions Club of Trenton Treasurer Mike Seymour. “This equipment will build agility and strength through exercise in the outdoors, allowing the individuals to feel part of our community.”

“The City is pleased to offer the land on which this wonderful new inclusive playground will be built,” said Mayor Jim Harrison. “This is a great example of community partners working together for the benefit of our residents.”

The Lions Club of Trenton has raised more than half its goal of $600,000 for this new playground, with fundraising efforts ongoing for the second phase of this project.
