Canada Day celebrations return to Quinte West

In-person Canada Day celebrations return to Centennial Park for the first time since 2019 on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Activities begin with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. and car show at 9 a.m. The rest of the day’s festivities will begin following the opening ceremonies at 12 p.m.

Returning favourites include a vendor village, live music, and a fireworks show along the Centennial Park waterfront. New activities this year include medieval knight fighting shows, falconry demonstrations, petting zoo and more.

“After two years of virtual celebrations, we look forward to welcoming our community back to celebrate Canada’s birthday in person,” says Colleen Vickers, special events coordinator at the City of Quinte West. “This year’s line-up of activities and entertainment offers something for everyone to enjoy.”

“We are excited to offer a day filled with fun, free events for the whole family on our beautiful waterfront this Canada Day,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “We invite our community to come together to celebrate our nation’s holiday while reflecting on what it means to be Canadian and the work still to be done towards reconciliation.”

To facilitate these festivities, Couch Crescent will be closed to vehicular traffic on July 1, 2022.
